Transport commander drop

Load your commander into a transport and land behind the enemy for mex or a proxy lab.

Goal

Use an air transport to land your commander in an undefended area, then immediately start a metal extractor or bot lab before the opponent reacts.

When it works

  • Enemy has weak or no air coverage on the drop side.
  • Map has a blind pocket, cliff edge, or long radar gap behind the front.
  • Your team can stall the front while you eco the proxy.

Basic steps

  1. Finish a minimal opener (mex + solar) and build an air lab.
  2. Make a transport and load the commander.
  3. Fly along the map edge or through a radar gap.
  4. Land on flat ground with metal nearby.
  5. Start mex first unless you already have metal income — then lab for pressure.

Common failures

  • Transport flies over active AA or fighters — scout first.
  • Landing spot has no metal and no build space.
  • Commander stands idle after landing — have a build queue ready.

Risk: If the transport dies, you lose the commander. This is a high-risk play. Practice the flight path in unranked games first.

Team coordination

Tell allies when you drop so they do not push and reveal your pocket. A dedicated air player can distract or escort while you land.
