Sea and amphibious commander drop

Move the commander over water with ships or amphibious units to hit coastal mex or a rear base slot.

Goal

Reach a coastal or amphib-friendly area where air transport is slow or obvious, using sea mobility instead.

When it works

  • Maps with long shorelines, islands, or amphib paths behind the front.
  • Enemy invested in land air but weak on sea vision.
  • Your team already has or can afford a ship lab or early amphib option.

Basic steps

  1. Secure basic land eco, then transition to sea production (ship lab / amphib fab).
  2. Move commander with transport ship or amphibious units along the coast out of radar.
  3. Pick a landing with metal and space for a yard — check yardmap on the Units page before trying exotic spots.
  4. Drop mex, then pressure enemy coastal eco or rotate into a proxy lab.

Common failures

  • Landing on a cliff or invalid build tile — scout with a cheap amphib or radar plane first.
  • Torpedo frigates or coastal defences kill the transport — path around or clear with allies.
  • Commander arrives with no metal income planned — bring eco or have allies share.

Disclaimer: Sea drops depend heavily on map geometry. What works on Archipelago may fail on a pure land map.

Team play

Coordinate with front players to not reveal the sea route. A naval feint on the other coast can pull defences away from your real landing.
